Astronomers uncover a mysterious magnetic web above the Sun
Astronomers have discovered a complex network of magnetic structures above the Sun using a balloon-borne telescope. These delicate threads are thought to be shaped by twisting motions on the Sun's surface. The researchers also mapped how these magnetic fields change with height inside solar jets.
Why it's good news: It sheds new light on a previously unexplored aspect of our closest star, potentially leading to greater understanding and appreciation of the Sun's behavior.
