Preschool boys favor bigger groups while adults' choices hint at political attitudes
Research found that preschool boys prefer playing with a group of three cartoon characters over one, while adults' preferences suggest a correlation between group size and perceived social status. Adults who identified as more liberal preferred larger groups, whereas those identifying as conservative preferred smaller groups. The study looked at responses to a simple question about which character to play with.
Why it's good news: It highlights an interesting dynamic in human behavior that can be applied to understanding how people make social choices.
