NASA’s Neo Surveyor Sunshade
NASA's Near-Earth Object Surveyor mission has a large sunshade that will keep its infrared telescope cool while searching for near-Earth asteroids and comets. The structure stands 20 feet tall and 8 feet wide at its base. It also provides power to the spacecraft.
Why it's good news: It's one step closer to detecting potentially hazardous asteroids and comets that could impact Earth.
