Fluorescent test speeds screening of thousands of enzyme variants that modify plant compounds
Scientists have developed a fluorescent test that speeds up the screening of thousands of enzyme variants which modify plant compounds. These modified compounds are more easily absorbed by the body and can be used to create health-related products. The researchers discovered an enzyme called phenolic phosphate synthetase (BsPPS) from Bacillus subtilis.
Why it's good news: It could lead to the creation of more effective and beneficial health-related products using plant compounds.
