Alzheimer’s risk gene APOE4 may have a reversible weakness
Researchers have discovered a possible weakness in the APOE4 gene linked to Alzheimer's disease. This gene may cause damage to brain blood vessels and disrupt protein removal systems. Experiments showed that some of this damage can be reversed.
Why it's good news: It suggests potential new targets for treating not just Alzheimer's, but also Parkinson's and other neurodegenerative diseases.
